February 2011

Landing back at Heathrow on 1st February - Jodi's Birthday. I see on Facebook that Jodi was greeted by her little boy with a big smile! It appears Charlie is growing fast and some time in the last few days has started to show emotion.

We got washed and dressed and went straight round to the Daykin household. We'd bought Charlie a little body suit. We had no idea what to buy him but as soon as we saw it, we had to buy it!

I'd spent quite a lot of time finding the perfect present for Jodi. Usually i'm organised but I wanted to get something from New York. I'd been looking at a necklace in Swarovski the whole weekend. It was a pair of angel wings - each on it's own chain. I knew instantly that this was the gift but it wasn't until a few hours before leaving that I went and bought it. Was it expensive? Yes, reasonably but I wanted to show Jodi how much she means to me and we would both have a necklace each.

Ash and Jodi had clearly wanted to find a meaningful gift for my 30th. I was presented with a framed record - it was number one on the day that I was born. What was it? John Lennon - Imagine. The gift was personalised and perfect. Of course John Lennon had died in December 1980 and the song had been a re-release.

Trying for a baby had continued throughout January and February but I don't want to touch on this subject too much.

My brother turned 40 and his best friend David had organised a surprise party. What a day/night! David and I had gone out to buy and decorate a cake. Of course it was to be the campest cake ever. Driving through town, we had balloons in the car and there is Howard walking down Eastcott Hill - damn. Have we blown our cover? Yes we think so. He saw us, we denied it of course but  he didn't see the balloons.

The party was brilliant. David had organised for some friends Howard 't seen in a while and for the amazing Anne-Marie whom he went to Argentina with to compete on Total Wipeout earlier that month. Anne-Marie was a Cher/Tina Turner tribute act and she'd asked David if she could perform. With permission of the management at The Bank David agreed. David and I were nervous as Anne-Marie disappeared from the meal to get ready for her Tina Performance. Wow! We laughed so much. What a performance. Everyone had an amazing night.
